JOB TITLE:                  Maintenance Technician

REPORTS TO:             Maintenance & Security Director

 

 

JOB SUMMARY: 

Responsible for the operations and general upkeep of the facility and equipment.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS of this job description include but are not limited to:

  1. Survey buildings and repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards

  2. Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets, clean and repair circuit breaker panels etc.)

  3. Assist in the setup of ventilation, refrigeration and other systems and conduct repairs when necessary

  4. Maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality

  5. Inspect alarm systems (fire, protection) and schedule repairs when needed

  6. Perform manual repairs when necessary (fix locks, replace windows etc.)

  7. Undertake activities of pest control such as spraying insecticide

  8. Conduct general upkeep procedures (e.g. landscaping) and other tasks as assigned (painting, carpentry etc.)

  9. Provides patients and the general public with care keeping patient rights and ethical concerns in mind.

  10. Maintains a clean, safe and orderly environment throughout the department and the organization.

  11. Maintains competency and participates in performance improvement activities.

  12. Creates and maintains a positive and trustworthy community image and respectful attitude.

  13. Possesses a strong customer and service to others orientation.

  14. Participates in team approach throughout the organization.

  15. Performs other tasks and duties as assigned in an efficient, effective and cost conscious manner, complying with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATION and EDUCATIONAL AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience as Maintenance Technician

  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems

  • Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods

  • Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices

  • Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills

  • Good physical condition and strength with a willingness to work overtime

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant field preferred

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. May be exposed to hazardous substances.
