PAYMENT POLICY

Burke Medical Center and its clinics participate in most health insurance plans. The following are some of the health plans which we currently accept.  However, if BMC is not in network with your insurance, we can provide a form for you to submit to  the insurance company requesting reimbursement be sent directly to you.

 

Please be aware that with most health plans, there are deductibles and co-payments for which you are responsible.

QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR BILL

Q:  What billing or insurance information will I receive?

​A:  After your insurance has paid their portion, you will receive a statement of your account.

Q:  How long will it take to get things settled with the insurance company?

A:  Generally, it takes from 45 to 60 days to obtain payment from an insurance carrier.​

​Q:  Why am I getting bills from physicians?

​A:  Each physician who provides professional services will send you a separate bill from his or her        office. These physicians may include your own physician, other physicians who conducted tests and procedures, consulting physicians chosen by your physician to read and interpret test results.

These physicians may also include specialists such as anesthesiology, cardiology, emergency physicians, or radiology.  Depending on your agreement with your insurance carrier, you may responsible for paying these bills.

Q:  ​I received a notice that my insurance company has paid their portion of my bill -- but I can't understand how they calculated their payment amount. Do you know?

​A:  For answers to questions about insurance payments, deductibles, or co-payments, you generally need to check with your insurance company.
